
Windows 95 PPP Setup Guide

A Windows 95 PPP connection requires 3 main components: Dial-Up Networking, Dial-up Adapter, and TCP/IP. These components may or may not be installed on the system. To verify the existence of these components on your system make sure to have the Windows 95 CD or diskettes ready.
Dial-Up Networking
- Double-click My Computer. If the Dial-Up
Networking icon is not present, open the Control Panel. Go through the following:
Add/Remove Programs >> Windows Setup
>> Communications
Check the box next to Dial-Up Networking and click O.K. Close the
Control Panel.

If neither are present, you will have to add the components. You will need your Windows 95 CD or diskettes ready.
Dial-Up Adapter: Click Add, and select Adapter and click Add. Under manufacturer in the left, select Microsoft and on the right, select Dial-Up Adapter and click O.K.
- TCP/IP: Click Add, and select Protocol and click Add. Under manufacturer in the left, select Microsoft and on the right, select TCP/IP and click O.K. In addition, you must properly configure TCP/IP. In the configuration screen, above, highlight TCP/IP as shown and click the Properties button.
*IP Address should be set to Obtain Automatically
*WINS Configuration should be Disabled
*DNS Configuration should be set as follows:
You will need to restart your computer for these settings to take effect. After restarting, you will need to configure and create the Dial-Up Networking Connection.
