Microsoft Internet Explorer | Netscape Navigator

  1. What is a browser?
A browser is simply a program that lets you view pages on the World Wide Web. Without it, you would only see a screen full of text. Recent development in browser software allow you to see and interact with dynamic web pages. Netscape Navigator is currently the most popular browser followed by Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

  2. Which is better, Netscape or Internet Explorer?
This is a matter of opinion. Both browsers have their strong and weak points. For example, Netscape Navigator is generally a little faster in downloading web pages than Internet Explorer, while Internet Explorer allows you to view the HTML source and edit it directly out of notepad, Netscape is a read-only display. Our advice? Get them both! A lot of web pages are optimized for one browser only, so you would be able to enjoy the best of both worlds by using IE and Netscape. They are both excellent browsers that are free to download and make surfing the Web a smooth and painless experience.

  3. What are Plug-Ins?
Plug-ins are additional software components that allow your browser to perform certain functions it normally would not be capable of. For example, to view live video, you need a video program such as Active Movie or QuickTime. Plug-ins come in Freeware and Shareware versions and can be downloaded from a variety of websites. Check out the Microsoft and Netscape home pages for more information.
